Situations like these made me wish there was a way we could only play songs that we both like. While on a four-hour drive, we took turns adding songs to a Spotify queue, but we were still stuck suffering through the other person’s songs. Our tastes overlap on a very specific subset of alternative/indie music. I like a little of everything but what I listen to heavily depends on my mood. He mostly likes rap, but also listens to ska and punk from time to time. My partner and I have drastically different tastes in music. I’ve been in these situations several times. Now you regret not speaking up before giving them control of the music, and the road trip just started. Your friend asked you what you wanted to listen to, and you said “play whatever music you like.” So they started playing their music, and you realized the music they like is something that you can’t stand listening to. Have you ever been stuck listening to music you don’t like on a long road trip with friends?
